Amazon Slides Another $4B to Anthropic

Looks like Amazon's got a serious crush on Anthropic – we're talking "dropping another $4B in your lap" kind of crush. That brings Amazon's total investment to a whopping $8B, making it the biggest tech industry "will they, won't they" since Microsoft started making eyes at OpenAI. 👀
But this isn't just Jeff Bezos's company throwing cash around for funsies. Anthropic has agreed to primarily train its AI models on Amazon Web Services (AWS) and use Amazon's custom-built Trainium and Inferentia chips. It's like Amazon said, "Hey, if you're gonna use our allowance money, you're shopping at our store."
Founded in 2021 by former OpenAI VP Dario Amodei, Anthropic has positioned itself as a safety-focused AI company and continues to expand its capabilities. Recent developments include the launch of Computer Use functionality, expansion into Europe, and high-profile hires from companies like Instagram and OpenAI.
However, this deepening relationship between tech giants and AI companies has drawn attention from regulators, including the FTC and UK's Competition and Markets Authority, though the UK has approved the partnership.
Sure, they've hit some speed bumps – unexpected price hikes that had customers clutching their pearls and delays in launching their new model Claude 3.5 Opus. But with $13.7B in total funding, they’re well-positioned to stay in the race at the very top.
✨ Siri's Getting a MAJOR Glow-Up

Apple's finally admitting Siri needs work. Like, serious work.
The tech giant is cooking up a completely revamped version of everyone's favorite "Hey Siri, set a timer" assistant. But this time, they're going all-in with large language models.
This isn't just a facelift. We're talking total reconstruction surgery, dropping in 2026. The new Siri will supposedly chat with you like a real person instead of sounding like a robot having an existential crisis.
Apple knows they're playing catch-up. While Google’s out here showing off with Gemini Live, Siri’s still fumbling to figure out if you’re trying to call your mom or order a mocha.
The new system is expected to function similarly to OpenAI's Advanced Voice Mode while maintaining Siri's existing integration with personal information and apps. While developing this next-generation assistant, Apple isn't standing still in the AI race. The company plans to bridge the gap by partnering with leading AI providers. Most notably, OpenAI's ChatGPT will be integrated into Apple Intelligence in December, and discussions are reportedly underway with other major players like Google and Anthropic for similar collaborations.
Looks like Apple's finally ready to admit their AI game needs work. Better late than never, right? 🤷♂️
Samsung Working on AI Smart Glasses

Samsung has confirmed plans to launch AI-powered smart glasses in Q3 2025, developed in collaboration with Google and Qualcomm.
First batch? 500k pairs (somebody's feeling confident 👀)
Weight: 50g (basically like wearing air)
Battery: 155mAh (enough juice to flex at brunch)
Camera: 12MP Sony sensor (for those "pics or it didn't happen" moments)
BUT WAIT, THERE'S MORE... They're packing Google's Gemini LLM which will enhance AI capabilities and user interactions.
Other key features include QR code-based payments, gesture recognition, and human recognition capabilities.
While Q3 2025 is the "official" launch date, rumor has it Samsung might showcase the glasses at the January Galaxy Unpacked event, alongside the Galaxy S25.
The device represents Samsung's vision of creating smartphone companion glasses that integrate AI and AR capabilities. And with Google and Qualcomm in their corner, they might just be onto something.
If these glasses can order our coffee before we even think about being tired, we're all in.
